Description

Join us for United Way’s Day of Caring! Volunteers will help us serve families in recovery by supporting our clothing and baby items rooms, assisting in the kitchen, painting and refreshing bedrooms, tidying backyards and flower beds, and repairing the south porch awning. All projects directly support residents in our Life Transformation Program: Streets to Stability.


Shift Options

  • Morning Shift: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (arrive 8:45 for check-in & safety briefing)
  • Afternoon Shift: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM (arrive 11:45)
  • Full Day: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (lunch break 12:00–12:30; water & snacks provided)

Volunteer Roles & Headcount Targets

  1. Clothing Rooms Organizing (6–8 volunteers)
    Sort, size, and stage donated clothing; set up racks; light cleaning.
  1. Baby Items Room (4–6 volunteers)
    Inventory diapers, wipes, formula, car seats, strollers; sanitize and label.
  1. Kitchen Support (4–6 volunteers)
    Meal prep, dishwashing, organizing pantry; help serve snacks/lunch to volunteers.
  1. Bedroom Refresh & Painting (6–10 volunteers)
    Patch, tape, cut-in, roll walls; light furniture moves; make beds with fresh linens.
  1. Backyard Cleanup & Flower Beds (8–12 volunteers)
    Rake, bag leaves, trim, weed, mulch; sweep walkways; light hauling.
  1. South Porch Awning Touch-Up (3–5 skilled or handy volunteers)
    Scrape/paint and minor hardware fixes (no ladder work above 8’ without cleared lead).
  2. Sign Project (3-5 skilled or handy volunteers)

    Our sign in the front yard needs repaired. We need good exterior paint, a bag of concrete, a bundle of 1x4 and 4x4 posts (pressure treated)    

We can comfortably host 25–35 volunteers across projects each shift.

Your service helps us maintain safe, dignified spaces for women and families working toward stability, while ensuring essentials—like clothing, baby items, and nutritious meals—are ready when needed.
