Who We Are
United Scottish Clans of Oklahoma (USCO) is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 1986 by Jerrel Murray and a small group of Scottish enthusiasts to educate the Oklahoma public about Scottish heritage. Since then, USCO has organized 29 Scottish festivals in Midwest City, Edmond and Yukon, an annual Burns Night celebration in downtown Oklahoma City, and other countless events. In 1998, Jerrel Murray designed the official Oklahoma tartan — a field of blue with bands of red, black, gold, and white (pictured above). The organization has assisted a variety of Scottish activities in central Oklahoma, including pipe and drum bands, Scottish highland and country dance, ancestral research, and Gaelic language studies.
What We Do
The United Scottish Clans of Oklahoma (USCO) is a 501c3 non-profit organization made up of individuals who, Scottish or not, love Scottish culture and strive to share that love with others in the state of Oklahoma. USCO brings together those interested in Celtic music, athletics, dance, ancestral research, and much more to celebrate the unique heritage of Scotland. Throughout the year, we host a wide variety of events, including the Oklahoma Highland Gathering (previously known as the Iron Thistle Scottish Festival), Burns Night, community events and ceilidhs (kay-lee, Gaelic for party). We’re always doing something,
