D-DENT’s mission is to improve the oral health of Oklahomans in need by providing free dental care through a statewide network of volunteer dental professionals. The purpose of D-DENT is to assist dental professionals with their charitable efforts and to give hope to those who cannot access dental care due to income status and lack of dental insurance. D-DENT’s target population is the uninsured, low-income elderly, the developmental disabled and veterans. D-DENT provides comprehensive dental care to Oklahoma’s population that fall outside Medicaid, Medicare or Veteran’s benefits. For many, D-DENT is the only access to dental care and serves as the last safety net before reaching no dental care at all.

D-DENT accomplishes this by recruiting volunteer dentists who donate their time, supplies, and staff. Concurrently, D-DENT assesses potential patients through an application process. After eligibility is determined, patients are matched with a volunteer dentist near the applicant’s residency. After 31 years of serving our community, people know where to turn to for dental assistance when there is nowhere else to turn. Since 1986, D-DENT has provided an estimated value of $21 million of FREE dental care statewide.     

D-DENT provides information regarding access to dental care to all callers. For those callers who might qualify for D-DENT's Restorative Care Program, D-DENT will provide an application for eligibility verification and coordinate the efforts of volunteer dentists, hygienists and dental assistants throughout the State of Oklahoma in order to help restore the oral health of low-income, uninsured elderly, developmentally disabled and veterans, free of charge.
