Who We Are
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Our goal is for all persons with intellectual disabilities to have the opportunity to become useful and productive citizens who are accepted and respected by their families, friends and in their communities.
What We Do
Special Olympics hosts upwards of 140 events every year, which means there are plenty of opportunities to get involved! There are smaller events hosted in each area of the state of Oklahoma as well as our larger State competitions that occur twice per year. Winter Games in January are hosted at OU and in the Norman/OKC area, and Summer Games, which are in May, are hosted by OSU in Stillwater! There are MANY ways to get involved!
