Who We Are

Mission Statement: CAM is providing service-minded people with ways to serve the community. Our theme is "Putting Skin on the Gospel.” CAM has three main goals/activities: 1) The first goal is an outward focus to the community. We strive to teach participants the importance of helping their community. A) We volunteer in the Norman, OKC, and the surrounding communities twice a month during the school year (Sept.- May). B) We host three free CAMps during the summer, where we volunteer for different non-profit agencies, widows & hospice patients in their homes. • Examples of volunteer work include, but not limited to the following: yard work, weeding, mowing, edging, light house cleaning, repackaging food for distribution, packaging supplies to ship overseas to soldiers, sorting through donations, sorting and cleaning out food pantries and clothing closets, and helping to prepare and serve meals to those in need, painting, and cleaning animal stalls. We take opportunities to share the Gospel through personal testimonies, crafts and story time. C) CAM has hosted an event called “One Night in a Box” for the past 12 years. (2019 will be our 13th year) One hundred percent of the funds that are raised go to support other non-profit agencies that help the homeless. 2) Our second goal is an inward focus on the participants: mentally, physically, & spiritually. Through CAM we are seeing the Body of Christ coming together through many different avenues, to accomplish His work. It doesn't matter what age, sex, social/economic background, denomination, or how intelligent one is, the participants feel accepted and they will see we won’t allow clique. We strive to teach the importance of leaving a place better than what they find it. We push excellent work ethics with a great attitude. We strive to teach the importance of accepting each other’s differences and to respect one another. We host adult lead, in depth, Bible studies in individual homes, twice a month, for all ages, during the school year. We feel the younger generation can learn from the older and vise versa. 3) Thirdly we challenge the participants to step-up to leadership roles, becoming leaders in the community, their school system, as well as in their own youth groups. CAM has formed a Youth Advisory Council (YAC) that meets regularly. We train the youth in how to speak in front of people. We provide opportunities for them to help organize special events. The youth lead Bible devotions, and praise & worship during the "Local Summer Mission Opportunity CAMps". We have seen many of our students receive top scholarships because of all their volunteer hours and leadership qualities they have gained through CAM.
